DJ DONBEAR was a young boy from Santiago Chile, when his love for music began. His inspiration, at just the young age of four, was Michael Jackson.. In 1984 he discovered his passion for hip hop and break dancing.
By 1987 DJ DONBEAR’s uncles helped him develop a deep love for Salsa music.
In 1988 DJ DONBEAR moved to Sydney Australia at 16 and performed at his first gig. Since then, he has been at the forefront of the live DJ scene for close to 30 years. DJ DONBEAR was a pioneer In the Latin music industry being the first Latin DJ to make a Salsa mixtape in Australia.
DJ DONBEAR quickly established his own events, including successful residencies at Bar Cleveland, The Arthouse, The Basement, The Watershed, La Cita, Monkey Bar, Bella Vista Hotel, Hillside Hotel, Mojito Sydney, El Barrio, Mojito Canberra, I Love Salsa, Rock Lily & DJ DONBEAR is the Co-owner of “The Latin Cruise” and many others.
Following continued success throughout the country, he expanded his skills by working in music production. He began to produce R&B, Soul, Funk and Latin mixtapes.DJ DONBEAR has gone on to release over 45 productions, including: AZUQUITA, PURO FLOW, LA FIESTA and many more.
DJ DONBEAR is regarded as one of Australia’s most successful Latin DJs and renowned for his versatile mixing styles, for which he is highly respected amongst colleagues and fans. His specialties include Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Timba & Salsa Cubana, Ol’Skool, Funk, RnB and much more.
DJ DONBEAR has devoted many years to the music industry, touring nationally and internationally and mixing the freshest tunes and grooves.
He has taken part in the world acclaimed Sydney Salsa Congress, Bondi South American Festival,
The National Multicultural Festival Canberra (performing live to over 10000 people), Spanish Quarter Festival, Chilean Independence Day Festival Fairfield Showground.
